Manos Internacional hosts annual camps
themed "Olympics" where students
compete in teams representing the four
countries studied as part of the Manos
program year.
In China, this two-day event was kicked off
with the Manos Torch Run, and brought the
school year to a close with every child
competing in teams representing the four
countries studied during the program year:
Canada, Thailand, Jamaica and Egypt.
In Mexico, children experienced their first
ever Manos Olympics Camp this year.
Children on the mountain outskirts of the
Tecate border town enjoyed competing in
events like dodge ball, hockey, cup
stacking, and a "mental" Olympics where
they played “jeopardy" on the four countries
studied during the program year: Canada,
China, Jamaica and Egypt.
Every child had the opportunity for gold,
silver and bronze medals; and the name of
the winning teams are engraved on the
Manos Olympics Gold Cup at the two sites.
Team Canada won in China, and Team
Jamaica won in Mexico.
