ROTARY HOSPITALITY
Arjun Saluja has been a long-time Manos member
and friend. He is also a Rotary member and with his
guidance, volunteer Belinda Wells got a dose of
Rotary hospitality as she visited the Perrine Cutler
Ridge-Palmetto Bay Rotary Club in Florida.
In August, she spent an afternoon sharing a
presentation. As a result, Rotary is giving its second
year of support with a $2,500 donation. Much of this
donation has gone to secure the Student Scholarship
Program through 2015. It will also support a year of
shipping costs of the International Friends Program,
and will sponsor the entire 2008 Beijing Field-Trip
Award in China.
In true Manos fashion "a little goes a long way, " and
Rotary's donation is going to serve three Manos
Programs, lending a great helping hand to Manos
across the globe! Thank you Rotary!

SUMMER CAMP IN MEXICO
Fun and games marked the beginning of a new semester for Manos Mexico. Volunteers from
the United States and China came together to host a two day camp and were warmly received
by the small community. The days were filled with sports competitions, arts & crafts, and
cultural exchange. Moments with area captain Cecilia Lopez were spent reminiscing of how
Manos began in Mexico. Now, after a great summer camp, with the new session of classes
on the horizon, and with the addition of dedicated volunteers, spirits are flying high and kids
haven't stopped asking, "When do classes start?"
THE WORLD
SUPPORTS MANOS
Manos Volunteers have been on the move
making phone calls and visiting
embassies. They've been requesting
material that would educate and inspire
kids about other cultures. So far, the world
has shown support as more than 12
embassies have responded with
donations of informational pamphlets,
books, and other items that teach about
their country.
Australia Colombia Cuba Ireland
India Israel Japan Kenya
Philippines Turkey USA Vietnam
Adding to the Manos library, kids can now
enjoy learning about other countries with
great visuals and reading material.

their culture they'd never experienced before.
Their experiences add to memories they'll

rocky terrain and winding streams. There, they visited
two schools and Toutou village. They discussed
possible programs, and made connections with
many, including the sole teacher of the one-room
school house, Mr. Kang You Fu. His class consists
of 21 students of 3 different grades.
Since this visit was made, the Manos China team
has made several more visits, bringing backpacks,
school supplies, sharing lunches, and making
plans. This October marks the start of a new session
of Manos classes for the year worldwide, and
Pingshan has definitely not been forgotten.
