How One Phone-Call Lit A Fire
Manos China spreads like wildfire when Jack Wang
decided to call a local paper telling them about  friends
he had just met and their humanitarian efforts. Manos'
volunteer president John Alvarez was interviewed for
the local paper, Hebei Daily; and from that one article,
Manos has been contacted by local and national news
in television, newspaper,  radio and Internet in China.
Story after story has been published and aired, with the
best results being more people wanting to lend a hand.

MANOS MISSION: To unite the
world through the sharing of
cultures, ideas, and education.
Program Updates From Around The Globe
June 13, 2007
The Luck of the Irish
Team Ireland, clad in green and orange, was
a sight from the start at this year's Olympics
Camp in China. Add the arrival of their Irish
coach
Fergal Foley, and everything seemed to
be going right with energy levels at a new
high. But their luck didn't end there, as even
the
Irish Embassy showed their support by
donating prizes and information packets. So
Team Ireland, led by their coach, and backed
by their country, proved that the Luck of the
Irish still runs strong.
New Friendship, New Support
As Lilian Grandal Perez combines efforts with
long-time volunteer
Ana Libia Maceira Gonzalez,
the translation of communication items into
Spanish has just gotten easier. Still, hard work
continues to make a difference at Manos Cuba.
Heading West
Manos kids & volunteers are
anxious for summer camp

this August, as volunteers as
near as Florida, and as far as
China will be travelling west to
meet up with California
volunteers and head across
the border into Mexico. They'll
be running the 2007 Manos
Mexico Summer Camp at a
small border town community
on the mountain outskirts of
Tecate. The Manos Mexico
community center will be
abuzz with festival games and
music---all in true Manos
tradition, bringing a little piece
of the world as Manos
continues to share cultures,
ideas, and education.
Lighting Up Lives
Manos' 3rd annual support campaign went beyond expectation thanks to donors who
generously gave their support. Through raffles, auctions and personal donations the
$4,000 goal was not only met, but far surpassed at a grand total of $5,622!
Future Bright in
Vietnam
They say the future rests in
the hands of our children.
For the children of Xuan
Thanh village in Vietnam the
future looks especially
promising. Sponsorship of
ten students will continue into
a second year at Xuan Thanh
School thanks support from
Arjun Saluja.  Manos
volunteer
Blake Estape
(pictured)
also contributed by
donating $150 to help 9 year
old Thanh Le learn English.
While the two met only briefly,
they became fast friends.
When asked about his
donation to
Baby Thanh, as
she is called, Blake said "it
was money well spent."
Olympic Dreams
The 2007 Manos Olympics Camp in China,
May 1st and 2nd. The kids were organized into
teams representing five countries: Brazil,
Russia, Ireland, Turkey, and Australia.  Games
were played to test athletic ability, teamwork,
and sportsmanship. And while not everyone
could take home a medal, everyone took with
them lasting memories of summer camp days
with Manos.
Company donations were no small part of this year's success,
either.  From Chinese language schools to U.S. realty offices,
support was shown for the Manos cause.  With such great help
world wide, Manos continues in its constant pledge towards
providing programs free-of-charge.
While campaign has ended, donations are still welcomed. Click here for more

Smiles from Africa
The Manos International Friends Program reaches
Africa
at a Kenyan orphanage. Thanks to a connection
that volunteer
Sally Hayes (pictures above) made in her
time spent in Kenya,
Shirley Yang, Manos China
captain, and
Rev. Fr. Augustine Kariuki, have now
paired up to bring cultures together for sharing and
growth. "Our children have chosen their new friends,"
wrote Father Kariuki, "and each was excited to realize
that some of the dreams of the Chinese children were
the same as theirs."
